Capitol Print Shop
The Capitol Print Shop (CPS), located in the Legislative Plaza, is operated and administered by the Office of Management Services and is responsible for providing printing and duplicating services for the Legislature, constitutional offices and other departments and agencies of State government. The materials printed include: audits, budget and financial reports, memorandums, newsletters, legislative bills, public and private acts, house and senate journals and other miscellaneous materials and publications. The Print Shop also provides collating, binding, folding and stitching services. In addition, the Print Shop processes out-going mail for the General Assembly and all other legislative and constitutional offices.
The Capitol Print Shop, personnel and various printing equipment, became a part of the Office of Management Services in 1980. The goal of the Capitol Print Shop is to provide those services required by the General Assembly, the various divisions of the Comptroller's Office, the constitutional offices and other customers in the most economical and efficient manner possible. In order to achieve this goal, the Capitol Print Shop has continually reviewed its processes, manpower requirements, equipment needs and state of the art equipment and processes in the printing industry. It has continued to cut overall unit production cost through more efficient use of manpower and equipment. An example was the implementation of a manpower requirement leveling process whereby more man-hours are made available and utilized during the legislative sessions and fewer are utilized during the remainder of the year.
